| NFRC Certified Simulations |
 |
NFRC
stands for National Fenestration Rating Council. Under
the NFRC umbrella, windows, doors, skylights, and other
fenestration products are rated for their thermal performance.
These performance indices are used for code compliance,
energy star qualification, etc. |
Carli, Inc. offers
services in computer simulations of fenestration products
for the purpose of obtaining Thermal Performance in
accordance with NFRC standard procedures. THERM5
and WINDOW5 programs are used in simulations in compliance
with the NFRC 100, 200, 300, and 500 (both 1997 and
2001 editions).
As a result of the simulation, U-factors, SHGC, VT,
and CR indices are produced and submitted to the NFRC database for
the issuance of the NFRC label and custom reports are prepared for
clients. The NFRC label is based on "whole product performance"
and is reported for the standard NFRC sizes. |

The main indices of thermal
performance of fenestration systems are the U-Factor
and the Solar Heat Gain Coefficient (SHGC). These two
indices are calculated using computer simulation tools
THERM and WINDOW. Calculations are validated with thermal
measurements in a hot box.
Carli, Inc. works
with its customers to guide them through the often confusing
and complex NFRC process, which includes help in deciding
about physical testing options. In addition,
we also provide calculations and measurements of optical
properties of glazing (simple glass, laminates,
applied films, etc.)
